Colonoscopy With Stent Placement

Vermont rates for HCPCS 45389

During a colonoscopy, an expandable mesh tube is placed inside a narrowed section of the large bowel to hold it open so stool can pass. Stretching the narrowing before and after the stent goes in, and passing a guide wire, are part of the procedure. It is used when a tumor or a scarred narrowing is blocking the bowel.
