Stitching a Hole or Tear in the Large Bowel

Vermont rates for HCPCS 44604

Repairs a hole or tear in the wall of the large intestine by sewing it closed so bowel contents no longer leak into the abdomen. The abdomen is opened, the injury is found and the area washed out, and the bowel wall is stitched. No opening onto the skin is created, so waste keeps passing the normal way.
