An examination of the large bowel through a stoma — an opening in the abdominal wall where the bowel has been brought to the surface — during which one or more polyps or other growths are taken out. The scope is passed through the stoma and the growth is removed with an instrument passed down it. The tissue goes to the laboratory for examination, which is charged separately.
