Keyhole Colon Removal With A Colostomy
Vermont rates for HCPCS 44206
Removes a segment of the colon through several small incisions using a camera and long instruments, then brings the upstream end out through the abdominal wall as a colostomy and closes off the remaining downstream end. Stool collects in a bag rather than passing through the lower bowel. It is used when joining the bowel back together immediately would be unsafe, such as with infection, obstruction, or perforation.
