Colon Removal With Join to the Rectum

Vermont rates for HCPCS 44145

Removes a portion of the colon and joins the remaining bowel to the rectum low in the pelvis, so stool continues to pass the usual way. It is used for cancer, diverticular disease, or other disease of the lower colon and upper rectum. Bowel continuity is restored during the same operation, so no stoma is needed.
