Small Bowel Transplant From A Living Donor

Idaho rates for HCPCS 44136

Places a length of small intestine donated by a living person into someone whose own intestine has failed. The transplanted bowel is joined to the recipient's remaining digestive tract and to blood vessels in the abdomen, and anti-rejection medicines are taken afterwards so the body accepts it. It is considered when a person cannot absorb enough nutrition to survive without being fed into a vein.
