Small Intestine Surgery for a Birth Defect

Delaware rates for HCPCS 44126

A surgery, usually performed in a newborn or infant, that removes a segment of small intestine that failed to properly form a passageway during development and reconnects the healthy ends together. This version treats a single affected area and does not include narrowing the wider segment of bowel above the defect to help it function better. It is used to restore a continuous, working intestinal passage in infants born with this type of intestinal blockage.
