Removal of Small Intestine With Stoma

Alabama rates for HCPCS 44125

Removes a diseased segment of small intestine and, instead of joining the two ends back together, brings the bowel out through an opening in the abdominal wall so waste drains into a pouch on the skin. It is used when the remaining bowel is too inflamed, infected, or poorly supplied with blood for a join to heal safely. The opening can often be closed in a later operation.
