Keyhole Surgery to Remove the Swallowing Tube

Vermont rates for HCPCS 43287

Removal of the diseased esophagus, the tube that carries food from the throat to the stomach, together with the upper part of the stomach. It is done through several small incisions using a camera and long instruments in the abdomen and the chest, instead of large open cuts. The remaining stomach is then shaped into a tube and joined to what is left of the esophagus so swallowing can continue.
