Bile Duct Stretching During Scope Procedure

A scope is passed through the mouth to the point where the bile and pancreatic ducts drain into the intestine, a catheter is threaded into the duct, and a balloon is inflated to stretch open a narrowed section. Cutting the muscular opening of the duct is included when it is done as part of the same procedure. It relieves blockage causing jaundice, pain or infection, and is charged for each duct treated.
