A very fine camera is passed through the channel of the main scope and into the bile duct or the pancreatic duct, so the lining of the duct can be seen directly rather than only as a shadow on x-ray pictures. This allows a narrowing or growth to be inspected up close and aimed samples to be taken. It is billed in addition to the main scope procedure it is performed during.
