Removal of a Throat Pouch With a Rigid Scope

Alaska rates for HCPCS 43180

A straight, rigid scope is passed through the mouth to reach a pouch that has formed where the throat meets the esophagus, and the pouch is removed. The tight muscle at the top of the esophagus that caused the pouch is also divided so it cannot re-form. A telescope or operating microscope is used for magnification.
