Removal Of The Side Wall Of The Throat

Vermont rates for HCPCS 42892

Removes a section of the side wall of the throat, including the pyriform sinus — the recess beside the voice box that food passes through on its way down. The gap left behind is closed by advancing the neighbouring walls of the throat and stitching them together, without bringing in tissue from elsewhere in the body. Swallowing is retrained afterwards as the area heals.
