Removes a fluid-filled swelling that forms under the tongue when a salivary gland duct is damaged or blocked and saliva collects in the surrounding tissue. The whole cyst is taken out through the floor of the mouth, and the gland feeding it may be removed as well so the swelling does not return. It relieves a soft bluish lump that gets in the way of speaking, chewing or swallowing.
