Draining an Abscess in the Gum or Jaw Ridge

Vermont rates for HCPCS 41800

Opening and draining a collection of pus, fluid or blood in the gum and the tooth-bearing ridge of the jaw. A small cut is made through the lining of the mouth so the collection empties, relieving pressure and pain, and the space may be rinsed or left with a small drain. It is usually done with local numbing.
