Stitches the tongue forward to the lower lip in a newborn whose lower jaw is very small, holding the tongue out of the throat so it cannot fall back and block breathing. It is a temporary measure while the jaw grows or until a more definitive treatment is arranged. Feeding and breathing are watched closely afterwards.
