Repair of a Torn Diaphragm After Injury

Vermont rates for HCPCS 39540

Surgical repair of a hole torn in the diaphragm, the breathing muscle separating the chest from the abdomen, as a result of an injury. Organs from the abdomen push up through the hole and crowd the lung, so they are returned to their proper place and the muscle is closed. It applies to injuries outside the newborn period.
