Mediastinal Exploration Through A Neck Incision

Wyoming rates for HCPCS 39000

Opens the central space of the chest, which lies between the two lungs behind the breastbone, through an incision at the base of the neck, so the surgeon can look inside it, drain an infection, remove a foreign object or take a tissue sample. Reaching it from the neck avoids opening the chest itself. Samples taken are used to diagnose enlarged glands or growths in that space.
