Keyhole Lymph Node Removal and Abdominal Staging

A keyhole operation in which lymph nodes are removed from both sides of the pelvis and lymph nodes higher in the abdomen are sampled. Fluid washings and small tissue samples are taken from the lining of the abdomen, and the fatty apron of tissue hanging over the bowel is removed. It is done to find out how far a cancer has spread so treatment can be planned.
