Bone Marrow Collection From A Donor

Hawaii rates for HCPCS 38230

Collects bone marrow from a healthy donor so it can be given to another person whose own marrow is failing or has been destroyed by treatment. With the donor under anesthesia, a needle is passed repeatedly into the back of the hip bone and marrow is drawn out. The donor keeps the rest of their marrow and replaces what was taken within a few weeks.
