Tying Off the Internal Jugular Vein

Vermont rates for HCPCS 37565

Closes off the large deep vein that carries blood from the head down the side of the neck. Through an incision in the neck the surgeon exposes the vein and ties it shut so blood no longer flows through it. It is done for severe bleeding, for an infected clot inside the vein, or as part of another neck operation.
