Stent For A Chest-Level Artery To The Head And Arm

Kansas rates for HCPCS 37217

Opens a narrowed common carotid or innominate artery where it lies down inside the chest, by expanding the narrowing and holding it open with a metal mesh stent. The neck is opened surgically to expose the carotid artery on that side, and the stent is passed back from there into the narrowed segment under X-ray guidance, with balloon widening when needed. Restoring flow relieves symptoms and lowers the risk of stroke.
