Repeat Vein Clot Removal Treatment

New York rates for HCPCS 37188

A follow-up procedure performed on a later day during an ongoing course of treatment to clear a blood clot from a vein, using a catheter-based device to break up and remove clot material along with imaging guidance to direct the catheter. It is used when a clot-dissolving treatment already underway needs continued mechanical assistance on a subsequent day rather than being completed in a single session. It is performed in a vein, not an artery.
