Long-Term IV Catheter Placement, Child Under Five

Delaware rates for HCPCS 36572

Places a thin, flexible catheter into a vein, usually in the arm, and threads it through the vessel until its tip sits in a large vein near the heart, in a child younger than five years old. The imaging used to guide the catheter and to confirm where the tip has landed is part of the service. It gives reliable longer-term access for medicines, fluids or nutrition and for blood draws, sparing the child repeated needle sticks.
