A catheter already in the neck vessels is steered into the branch that supplies the face and scalp, dye is injected, and X-ray images of that circulation are taken and interpreted. It is billed in addition to the main artery study done at the same session. The images are used to map blood supply before treatment or to look for abnormal vessels.
