Reopening the Abdomen After Surgery

Vermont rates for HCPCS 35840

Reopens a recent abdominal operation site to find and deal with bleeding, a clot in a repaired vessel, or infection that has developed since. Bleeding points are controlled, clot is cleared, and infected material is washed out. It is an unplanned return to the operating room rather than part of the original operation.
