Reopening the Neck After Surgery

Reopens a recent surgical wound in the neck to find and deal with a problem that has developed since the operation - bleeding, a clot in a repaired blood vessel, or infection. The surgeon inspects the area, stops the bleeding or clears the clot or infected material, and closes the wound again. It is normally an urgent, unplanned return to the operating room.
