Direct Repair of a Blood Vessel in the Chest

Repairs a torn, cut, or damaged blood vessel inside the chest by stitching the vessel wall itself back together, rather than replacing the damaged length with a graft. The chest is opened to expose and control the vessel. It is most often needed after an injury or when a vessel is damaged during another operation.
