Open Repair Of An Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm

Connecticut rates for HCPCS 35081

Replaces a bulging, weakened stretch of the abdominal aorta with a fabric tube, reached through an open incision in the abdomen. The tube is sewn to healthy aorta above and below the weakened section so blood flows through it instead of through the bulge. It is done before the aneurysm bursts, once the bulge is large enough that the risk of rupture outweighs the risk of the operation.
