Fenestrated Aortic Graft With Lower Aorta Repair

New Mexico rates for HCPCS 34845

Repairs a weakened, bulging section of the aorta — the body's main artery — where it runs through the upper abdomen and gives off the arteries to the kidneys, liver and intestines. Instead of opening the abdomen, the surgeon threads a fabric-covered metal graft up through an artery in the groin and seats it inside the aorta; the graft is built with openings so blood keeps flowing into the organ arteries it crosses, and small lined stents are passed through those openings into those branch vessels. The repair also continues down into the lower abdominal aorta with a further graft component, and the X-ray imaging used to guide and check the work is included.
