Placement of an added graft segment onto a stent graft already sitting in the main abdominal artery or a pelvic artery, carried out at a separate, later session rather than during the original repair. The extension piece lengthens the sealed zone, usually because follow-up imaging showed blood leaking around an end of the existing graft. It is delivered through a catheter from the groin.
