Clot Removal From a Deep Vein

Delaware rates for HCPCS 34451

Surgery to remove a blood clot from the large deep veins that drain the leg and pelvis. The surgeon opens the vein and draws the clot out, usually with a balloon-tipped catheter passed along the vessel and pulled back. Restoring flow relieves severe swelling and reduces the risk of lasting damage to the leg veins.
