Clot Removal From a Neck Artery

Alaska rates for HCPCS 34001

Urgent surgery to remove a clot blocking one of the large arteries at the base of the neck, carried out through an incision in the neck. The surgeon opens the artery, extracts the clot, often using a balloon-tipped catheter drawn back through the vessel, and then repairs the artery. Restoring flow quickly limits damage to the tissues beyond the blockage.
