Removing A Heart Pump Sited Outside The Body

Maine rates for HCPCS 33977

Takes out a mechanical pump that has been supporting one of the heart's lower chambers from outside the body, together with the tubes running through the chest wall to the heart and the main artery. The chest is opened so the tubes can be detached and the openings in the heart and vessel closed. It is done once the heart has recovered enough or when the support is being changed to another plan.
