Takes out a balloon pump that was placed in the main artery of the chest to help a failing heart, and repairs the groin artery it was inserted through. The groin is opened surgically so the artery can be stitched closed, sometimes with a patch or a short length of graft. It is done once the heart no longer needs the extra support.
