Total Artificial Heart Implantation

Replaces the failing pumping chambers of the heart with a mechanical total replacement heart system. The diseased chambers are removed through open-chest surgery and the device takes over pushing blood to the lungs and the rest of the body. It is used for people in severe heart failure, most often to keep them alive while they wait for a donor heart.
