Replacement Of The Aorta At Its Root And First Section
Maine rates for HCPCS 33863
Replaces the first stretch of the aorta as it leaves the heart, including the root where the heart's own arteries branch off, using a fabric tube that carries a built-in replacement valve, with the patient supported on a heart-lung machine. Because the valve comes as part of the tube, the aortic valve is replaced during the same operation, and the coronary arteries are detached from the old vessel and sewn into the new one. It is done for an aneurysm or a tear in this part of the aorta.
