Transposition Repair With Tunnel and New Pathway

Nebraska rates for HCPCS 33771

Open-heart surgery for a child born with the two main arteries leaving the wrong pumping chambers, together with a hole between the chambers and a narrowing on the route out to the lungs. Using a heart-lung machine, the surgeon builds a tunnel inside the heart so one pumping chamber sends blood out through the aorta, and creates a new route from the other chamber to the lungs. The repair leaves blood flowing in the normal direction through the heart.
