Shunt From Upper Aorta To The Lung Artery

Nevada rates for HCPCS 33755

Builds a connection between the ascending aorta — the section of the main artery just as it leaves the heart — and the artery going to the lungs, so more blood reaches the lungs to pick up oxygen. It is done in children born with heart defects that leave the path to the lungs too restricted. The chest is opened under general anesthesia, and the shunt is generally one step in a staged surgical plan.
