Opening The Wall Between Upper Heart Chambers

Colorado rates for HCPCS 33735

Creates or enlarges an opening in the wall dividing the two upper chambers of the heart, so oxygen-rich and oxygen-poor blood can mix. It is done in infants with heart defects whose circulation depends on that mixing to keep enough oxygen reaching the body. In this version the surgeon works on the beating heart without putting the child on a heart-lung machine.
