Repair Of A Leak From The Aortic Root

Nebraska rates for HCPCS 33702

Closes an abnormal channel running from a bulging pouch at the root of the aorta into a neighboring heart chamber, which lets blood escape where it should not and overloads the heart. The surgeon sews the opening shut or covers it with a patch while the heart is stopped and a heart-lung machine takes over the circulation. It is open heart surgery under general anesthesia with intensive care afterward.
