Closure of a Hole Between the Heart's Chambers

Delaware rates for HCPCS 33676

Open-heart surgery to close one or more holes in the muscular wall separating the heart's two pumping chambers, using patches sewn over the openings. A heart-lung machine takes over the circulation while the surgeon works inside the heart. Closing the holes stops blood leaking from the high-pressure side to the low-pressure side and eases strain on the lungs.
