Surgical Closure Of A Hole Between Upper Heart Chambers

Maine rates for HCPCS 33641

Closes a hole in the wall between the heart's two upper chambers, either by stitching it directly or by sewing a patch across it, with the patient supported on a heart-lung machine. Closing it stops blood leaking from one side of the heart to the other, which over time overloads the lungs and the right side of the heart. It treats the common central form of this defect.
