Joining The Lung Artery To The Aorta

Idaho rates for HCPCS 33606

Connects the artery that normally carries blood to the lungs directly into the aorta, the body's main artery, so that a single working pumping chamber can supply the whole body. It is used in complex heart defects present from birth where the usual route out of the heart is blocked or too narrow. It is open heart surgery on a heart-lung machine, usually performed in infancy as one stage of a longer plan.
