Transfer of a Misplaced Coronary Artery

Open-heart surgery to correct a coronary artery that comes off the wrong vessel, leaving part of the heart muscle supplied with blood that carries too little oxygen. The surgeon detaches the misplaced artery and moves it across onto the aorta, so the heart muscle receives oxygen-rich blood in the normal way. It is carried out with a heart-lung machine, usually in infancy.
