Mitral Valve Replacement

Vermont rates for HCPCS 33430

Removes the mitral valve, which sits between the upper and lower chambers on the left side of the heart, and puts a replacement valve in its place, with the patient supported on a heart-lung machine. It is done when the valve is too leaky, too stiff, or too damaged to be repaired. The replacement may be a tissue valve or a mechanical one.
