Aortic Valve Replacement Using Own Lung Valve

Vermont rates for HCPCS 33413

Replaces a diseased aortic valve, the valve controlling blood leaving the heart, with the patient's own pulmonary valve moved into that position. A donor valve is then placed where the pulmonary valve used to sit. It is open-heart surgery performed with a heart-lung machine, chosen most often in younger patients so that lifelong blood-thinning medicine can be avoided.
