Aortic Valve Replacement Through the Armpit Artery

Colorado rates for HCPCS 33363

Replacement of a narrowed aortic heart valve with an artificial valve carried in on a catheter and expanded inside the old one, without opening the heart. In this version the surgeon makes a cut below the collarbone to expose the axillary artery at the shoulder and introduces the delivery system there. That route is chosen when the vessels in the groin are too narrow or too diseased to carry the system.
