Catheter Closure Of The Left Atrial Appendage

Vermont rates for HCPCS 33340

A thin tube is threaded through a vein up to the heart and a small plug is placed to seal off the left atrial appendage, a small pouch on the upper left chamber where clots tend to form in atrial fibrillation. Sealing the pouch reduces stroke risk in people who cannot stay on long-term blood thinners. The chest is not opened.
