Removal Of An Under-The-Skin Defibrillator Wire

Vermont rates for HCPCS 33272

The electrode of a subcutaneous defibrillator — the wire that runs under the skin alongside the breastbone rather than inside the heart — is taken out through incisions over its path. It is removed because of infection, damage, poor performance, or because the system is no longer needed. The generator unit is dealt with separately.
